This is an exciting time to be in the advertising business. There are opportunities all around us that some either can't or choose not to see. While I'll admit it is hard out there right now, I am not unaffected by this mass paranoia either. A great deal of the world around us is a direct reflection of the thoughts we hold in our own mind.
My favorite quote of late is one of Warren Buffet's, "Be scared when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are scared." Well folks, there are a lot of scared people out there. I for one am opting to choose greed and abundance over fear and lack. That is why I have started instituting some dramatic changes within my own organization.
You'll notice that the Azimuth Branding logo is gone from this sight. There is a very good reason for that as I have decided to make this more of a personal forum than an extension of my company. That is not to say that I will not continue to share my insights on marketing and branding. I love the business to much not to talk about it, it consumes me and I enjoy helping business owners understand these topics.
With all the fear and anxiety out there I want to be a promoter of all that can be. Abundance exists all around us, think about it what really changed. The sun still rises in the east and sets in the west. The moon is still bright in the night sky, and the universe is still expanding. We all started living a lifestyle we couldn't afford on money we didn't have. This is a lesson our grandparents tried in vein to give most of us as they experienced the depression as children.
The length of this little correction will be directly correlated to the thoughts we hold prominent in our mind. Choose to see the opportunities they are all around you. If you got laid off pursue that passion you always told yourself someday to and turn it into a business. Don't give in to fear of the unknown but embrace it as an opportunity to explore new possibilities. Walk in the faith that there is no lack, it is an illusion forced upon us.
This is an exciting time and I am looking forward to the innovation and prosperity that will come out of these troubled times. One more thing, turn off the TV and pick up a book. Preferably a book with a positive uplifting message like 'Think and Grow Rich' or 'Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude' Your brain after all is as much a muscle as it is a computer and if you fail to exercise it you will loose it.
Good thoughts. Success is attributable to 90% attitude. Of course, 86% of statistics are also made up on the fly ;)
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Opportunity surrounds us my friend. Carpe Diem- today, and every day!
ReplyDeleteSteven, very well said. In times like these there's always untapped opportunities in the ad/mktg world to grow, whether one's own "brand" or a client's. While many are tightening their purse strings on budgets, the noise dies down, and that means it's time to strike! Look forward to your next post.
