We are now only ten days away from the end of April and my newest adventure in Self-employment Stigmare' still has yet to realize revenue. Through the necessary trials and tribulations of forming a new company, especially when working with investors, formation has taken longer than expected. Yet despite the set backs and delays I soldier on.
The vision of what Stigmare' is and will be is so clear in my mind that I can smell the coffee brewing in the break room. I've sacrificed many things in the pursuit of this vision, but nothing that can't be undone with time. I recently gave up my SLK 320, my college dream car, to divert the expenses related to owning such a vehicle to my vision. I did so knowing that within the year I would have an SL65 AMG instead.
Now some of you will view this as being materialistic, or as bragging, and that is really disappointing but not unexpected. You have to have goals in life, otherwise what is the point. I was talking to a gentleman the other day who was of the opinion that there should be a cap on individual wealth. What surprised me is that he is a top salesperson for his employer. I was just dumbfounded that someone in a performance related field would be in favor of limiting the rewards of achievement.
Any wealth, large or small, comes at great sacrifice and risk. This wealth does not have to be monetary either. It could be spiritual or intellectual wealth as well. Its achievement requires investments of time and money. This attitude of lack results from individuals not holding themselves accountable for the choices they made which dictate the circumstances of their lives. "All that we are is the result of what we have thought," Buddha. I love that quote!
I know that Stigmare' will be successful, because I am willing to sacrifice everything to make it happen. Without that level of commitment no venture will succeed. This by the way scares the hell out of my mother, who still thinks I'm twelve or something. I love moms they mean well, and only want what's best for us. Unfortunately they don't include us in the discussion, and can sabotage us without knowing it. They don't mean too, it just happens.
I'll close with one last quote, "Every man is the architect of his own fortune," Salust - Roman Historian.
