My blog post On Personal Branding has been one of my post popular to date. After some of the comments I received on my post All or Nothing I thought a follow up was appropriate. It would appear that I have done to good a job embedding my personal persona in the Emerald City Fashion Week and Stigmare brands. They are after all my babies, and I am their biggest proponent.
When I was reacquainted with an old high school flame my priorities shifted slightly and I began to try and humanize myself and not just be the glorified carnival barker I pro-port myself to be. As evidenced by my last post balance is not a strength of mine. My infatuation for this woman consumed me and posts here and on Twitter reflected that change. For better or worse I had relegated Stigmare and ECFW to the back burner in my personal postings. My followers took notice and are now voicing their concerns.
I was no longer a trusted source for original content, nor was I seen as an example of perseverance against the odds in there eyes. While I never thought of myself as a Thought Leader, evidently some of them had. This was a valuable lesson in over sharing and excessive transparency. Again my Zero or 100, Black or White tendencies rear their ugly head. So I search for the shades of grey.
Well done Steven! Transparency does add authenticity but it is important to remember the stories we share have a purpose. If they can add value to your readers or followers, you've done the best job.
