I was in an elevator the other day having a conversation with a business associate and I mentioned the Studio HDV branding seminar I had been at earlier that day. As I finished my statement another gentleman in the elevator said something to the effect of, "branding, that has to do with cows right?"
This question really got me thinking, while I'm sure that is where the origins of the term lie is this gentleman obviously from a rural background the only one with this in mind? That being said I want to open the floor for discussion. I invite all of you to share with me what your definition of branding is?
I look forward to reading all of your comments.
Outside of the cattle definition, I consider it to be defining the mental image and sensation associated with your company name, product, or even with you as a person. That's my initial feeling though, so with more though, who knows. ;-)
ReplyDeleteBranding. . .an identity. That feeling or sense you get of the company when you think about it. Your perceived niche. The thing small businesses should not be concerned about, since their goal should be focused on making the phone ring. The thing too many graphic-designers-turned-marketing-experts beat to death when they should be helping their small business clients make the phone ring.
ReplyDeleteI love the comments guys, keep them coming...
